Music theory w/Lump.

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration." — Nikola Tesla

The spark that bleed.

I know, wrong band. But hear me out. I promise to tie it in to profound realizations. Things that are true, things no one's taught to us, yet...

Let me set a backdrop, first. I'm no musician to speak of! I do have decent rhythm & I'm pretty good at hand percussion, intrinsically. And I can absolutely whistle like a songbird! Been shredding, driving my car w/the band from Vermont for 30 years. Bound to pick something up. Freestyle whistling, are my fruits. Anything more precise & I become an engaged observer, dancing my ace off.

On another timeline, a less f-d one, I'm likely a musician. In my family, several generations back, we have had countless musicians. So I am not the most qualified person to pose the following. Nonetheless, opinions are like assholes. Everyone has them. And I am no exception to this rule. So, I have a theory on the origins of music & its underrealized importance to humanity, civilization, the human consciousness & as well as our health. To explain this, we're gonna talk about ghosts.

The ghost story I want to tell you about is not Trey's. But rather one from history. Deep history. This ghost story happened in the Swabian Jura of Germany, roughly 35,000 to 40,000 years ago. A hominid, likely a Neanderthal or an early modern human, carved a vulture bone into a flute.

You look at the historical record, and this date is essentially the "Big Bang" of the human experience. Before that, we were just clever primates making tools for survival. After that? We were creating symbols, culture, and social hierarchies.

It’s easy to look at that bone flute and think, "Oh, nice, early leisure time." But let’s be honest—that’s like looking at the invention of the microchip and saying, "Oh, cool, a better calculator." That flute wasn't a toy. It was the first instance of a human being realizing that the universe isn't just matter—it's vibration.

It was our first antenna, our first attempt to capture the "core" Tesla spoke of, the place from which we obtain knowledge, strength & inspiration. The Technology of the 'Spark'.

We like to think we’re so incredibly advanced with our fiber optics, satellites, the mindless, irresponsible & reprehensible AI, etc... But consider the sheer magic of that isolated moment 40,000 years ago, from which we discovered 'music'.

Music was the first technology that didn't help us kill something or build a shelter—it helped us sync with something larger. Infinitely larger. Boundlessly larger. But to truly quantify what music likely did for humanity, we couldn't even begin to understand. It takes the philosopher to truly see it.

The answer is everything. It's f-ing everything. Literally everything! Case in point: It taught us teamwork, synchronized our neurochemistry, and stimulated dopamine. It turned a bunch of scattered individuals into a tribe. When you play music together, you’re not just making noise; you’re engaging in social & developmental advancement.

You’re physically mapping the brain to recognize patterns, solve complex problems, and, most importantly, understand the "other," as an extension of yourself. Beautifully funny, isn't it? We spent forty thousand years trying to conquer the planet, and yet the thing that actually kept us alive wasn't the spear—it was simple harmony. Just like the harmonic universe we live in. It's why music moves you.

Nature’s "Low-Resistance" Groove! Look at nature. We think of nature as this wild, chaotic thing, but nature is actually the ultimate minimalist. It’s obsessed with efficiency. Take the color spectrum. When we look at light, the red spectrum is the "Steady Eddie." It’s not the fastest wave, but it’s the most persistent. It travels through the atmosphere with the least resistance, scattering less than the frantic, higher-frequency colors. Nature designed a "low-resistance groove" for the stable wavelength to arrive, while the fast, frantic stuff just burns out. It's literally the tortoise winning the race. That's suggest harmonic frequency.

There’s a lesson in that for anyone. Maybe the winning move isn't speed. Perhaps it's finding the harmonic resonance where the resistance disappears.

The Geometry of the Thinker. Now, if you want to truly get "heady," look at the shape of the donut. You look at the macro—the structure of the universe—and the micro—the electromagnetic field of the human heart and brain—and you keep running into the same geometric structure... even the sun's electromagnetic field: the Torus. The "Donut." The Vortex.

Thought itself is inherently recursive. It’s a loop! You have a thought, you observe the thought, and that observation becomes the input for the next thought. It doesn't move in a straight line; it curves back on itself. When you add time to that, you’re sketching a torus in the fabric of your own consciousness!

If the structure of the universe is harmonic and toroidal, and the structure of our thoughts is toroidal, then perhaps we aren't just living in the universe. We are functioning as harmonic feedback loops of the universe, itself. Tuning the Receiver. Google the similarities between how neurons and stars are even near mirror images of each other.

Presently, we are living in an era of massive discordance. We’ve adopted standards of frequency and rhythm that are essentially "out of tune" with the natural ratios of the planet. No fault of our own, just that nature's clues are often very subtle undertones.

Constantly, we are being bombarded by "static"—synthetic rhythms and frantic, high-resistance noise. When you find your frequency—whether through music, art, or just by aligning your intent with the rhythm of your environment—you aren't just "relaxing." You’re repairing the antenna. And you are going with the "flow."

You’re re-syncing your toroidal field with the core frequency of the cosmos. That first flute player in Germany wasn't just whistling in the dark. They were starting a conversation. They were realizing that if you can vibrate the air in the right pattern, you can move matter, you can move emotion, and you can move minds.

Everything has a frequency. Matter, light, sound—it’s all just the same stuff vibrating at different speeds. If you want to change the world, you don't fight the matter. You change the frequency.

Music was the spark! It all fits, like puzzle pieces. Music is essentially the secret to the universe. And you've had donuts on the mind from the second you had your very first living thought. ⭕⭕⭕

And knowing this, I cannot help but to think we could have never come this far in at least as many years, without music. Not a snowball's chance in hell.

And for those who yield this extraordinary gift. The Jedi. Realize what an extraordinary gift you have. And most honestly, thank you for sharing it with the rest of us. If not for music, all of humanity would lose our collective 💩!
